Villa Pastor is a cheap, family run hotel on the main square of Cabanaconde. There are lots of rooms ranging in size and a pizza restaurant connected.
Hospitality: 8/10 We wandered in off the street having spent 3 days trekking down in the canyon (read about that adventure here) we were offered 2 sets of keys and were able to choose the room we liked best. The hostel is run by a nice family and a few volunteers.
Room: 7/10 The room was fine, the bedding was clean and mattress seemed pretty new. It wasn’t filthy but I didn’t want to touch the TV as it needed a good wipe down! The ensuite also gave the room a stinky drain smell so we left the door shut. On the plus side, the shower was hot and powerful! There was also a window looking out over the rooftops towards the square, with a lovely view of the mountains. In standard Peruvian hostel style the walls were a bit thin so there was some noise from other guests however nothing serious!
Location: 10/10 Right on the square! Need I say more?
Value: 10/10 30 soles for a double room with an ensuite, hot water and wifi (password changes daily, sometimes twice a day so be aware) this is a great price and definitely worth it.
Overall: 8/10 Great value, clean enough, nice owners.
