REVIEW: Friends Hostel Quito

Quito is a vibrant and beautiful cultural hub with lots to do and experience. There are many hostels to choose from, but if you are looking for a clean and organised place with friendly staff then I’d suggest checking into Friends Hostel in the heart of the old town.

Hospitality: 10/10 The staff here seem to be a team of young guys who are all dedicated to customer service and ensuring the place is clean and tidy. There was always someone at reception when we needed assistance and when we met the owner he was super helpful and cheerful. Can’t fault the hospitality here!

Room: 9/10 We stayed in a double room with shared bathroom. Set in a charming period building the room was on the top level and had wooden floors and lovely views from the bedroom window. The place was a little creaky but super clean and comfortable and nice natural light and ventilation. The shared bathroom had a great shower and was always in a good state.

Location: 10/10 If you want to be in the old town this is a very central spot, we found it easy to walk from place to place and the main plaza is only 5 minutes away.

Value: 9/10 We paid $23usd per night for a double, which included a breakfast of egg, bread, juice, coffee and fruit. The internet was fast and they have a good laundry service for a reasonable fee. All in we were happy. I believe a bed in a dorm is about $11.50usd.

Overall: 9/10 This place ticked all the boxes for us and we would definitely recommend.
