REVIEW: Llullu Llama Isinlivi

When I embark on a 3 day hike I want to know that at the end of a long and dirty day, scrambling up relentless hills, there will be a hot shower and a delicious meal waiting for me. Don’t you? Well if your needs are also this simple, Llullu Llama will knock your dirty socks off!

Hospitality: 10/10 The hostel uses volunteers to look after their guests, and while we were there they were super friendly! The owners still seemed to be around to help out so I imagine they would also be on top of any bad service. The best part about this place for me would have to be the food… I was so happy when the lasagne came out! Then they followed it up with a delicious apple crumble!! THEN after we were all raving about how delicious it was, they offered us seconds on desert! If that’s not the best hospitality one can hope for I don’t know what is.

Room: 8/10 We stayed in a double room with shared bathroom. It was basic but clean, it had lots of natural light. The bathroom was right outside the bedroom door, always clean with a good hot shower and we never had to wait to use it. They also had the option of dry toilets offering “a poo with a view” which was very nice 1st thing in the morning 🙂

Location: 9/10 It’s hard to rate the location here because it’s more of a destination than a location. Set on lush green rolling farmland it’s worth going out of your way for! For us it was a long 5 and a half hour walk to get here, but you could also take a bus all the way here from Latacunga if you’d rather.

Value: 10/10 We paid $23usd per night per person for a double room with a shared bathroom. This included a 3 course dinner and a full crazy delicious breakfast the next day as well as bottomless tea and coffee any other time. I was soooo happy with the food and the tranquility the lack of internet went unnoticed! There was a really social vibe and we made friends with lots of new people who we ended up walking the rest of the trail with.

Overall: 10/10 It was just lovely! I’d highly recommend.
